Did you know that OPI - "the world leader in professional nail care" is based in the 20th District? OPI employs scores of local residents. Senator Padilla recently took a tour of OPI's North Hollywood headquarters and met with the workers, most of whom are women.

Valley High School Teaches Engineering & Design

Senator Padilla visits Monroe High School's cutting-edge Engineering & Design Program. The program is the brainchild of Lewis Chappelear who was recently recognized as California Teacher of the Year. For more photos click here.

A lifelong resident of the Valley, Senator Padilla knows the dangers of earthquakes. The Valley was hit hard by both the Northridge earthquake in 1994 and the Sylmar quake in 1971. Los Angeles Dodgers Celebrate 50th Anniversary Season

Senator Padilla attended a Sunday afternoon reception celebrating the opening of the Dodgers' 50th season in Los Angeles. At the reception, Alex had the opportunity to meet and talk with new Dodgers Manager Joe Torre. The next day at the opener the Dodgers beat the Giants neatly 5 - 0.
