Senator Padilla Commends the Bravery of LA County Firefighters in Haiti

Update: Senator Padilla's Senate Bill 1420 Signed into Law, Making an Impact on Consumers

Senator Padilla's SB 1420 took effect July 1st, 2009. You should be noticing nutritional information at large chain restaurants near you. Watch a video of the signing ceremony here. Studies have shown that consumers who see the nutrition content of what they are eating tend to order healthier choices. Read more: Yale study, Stanford study and UC Berkeley study. SB 1420 is now the model for language in the federal healthcare bills.

20th District Spotlight

WET Design is a water-feature design firmed based in the 20th senate district. WET Design is best known for its nine-acre fountains at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, but the company has also designed over 200 fountains and architectural water features in many parts of the world. District Destination Spotlight: Mission San Fernando Rey de España

Mission San Fernando Rey de España, also known as "Mission of the Valley" is location in Mission Hills and was founded in 1797, restored in the 1940's. The Mission has a Chapel still used today, a museum, many beautiful statues and the Bob Hope Memorial Gardens. For more information on visiting the Mission click here.

Shiloh II Wind Energy Project Dedication

Senator Padilla participated in a dedication ceremony for the Shiloh II Wind Energy Project in Rio Vista, CA on February 26th. The Wind Energy Project is the largest wind farm built in 2008 and is one of the top three largest wind farms in California. At the dedication ceremony, Senator Padilla addressed the crowd along with General Wesley Clark. For more photos click here.
